Inhalation anesthesia

Sometimes it is necessary to anaesthetize your pet/ our patients. For this purpose we use a range of different drugs adapted to:

  1. the type of animal (dog / cat / other)
  2. age
  3. weight
  4. breed
  5. general condition of the animal

Prior to anesthesia  we conduct a thorough examination of the pet patient to check cardiovascular and lung function and to determine the degree of anesthetic capability. We naturally take into account the type of planned intervention when selecting the anesthetic medication.
In older pet patients, we also recommend a blood test before the anesthetic is administered so any reduced liver or kidney function can be taken into account. For longer procedures, we use inhalation anesthesia, which has the advantage that the anesthetic gas does not burden the liver and kidneys, but allows for very good control of the depth of anesthesia. Thus, even older, more high risk pet patients can be put under anesthesia.

Digital X-ray

  3. examinations using contrast media (stomach/intestine, joints, urinary tract, spinal canal)

We have a modern digital x-ray machine specially adapted to the requirements of veterinary medicine. This provides us with informative images for the smallest to the largest of our patients while keeping the radiation dose very low.

Ultrasound

Our ultrasound device enables us to examine the internal organs of animals and see changes that are difficult to see on an X-ray. Ultrasound is an important aid in heart, liver and kidney examinations (feline PKD in pedigree cats) – and of course in pregnancy diagnostics.

Other pets

In the event of illness, our small and smallest patients deserve our fullest attention. In addition to the usual examination methods, this includes x-rays, ultrasound, and the use of special anesthetic procedures. Dental health and hygiene is also important for  small pets, especially rabbits, guinea pigs and chinchillas. We are also happy to give you advice on feeding and care.
